Dave Hanson was first exposed to boating on the waters of Buzzards Bay at the family summer home on Scraggy Neck, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He learned to sail by assisting younger brother, John, with small sailboat rentals and lessons off the beach at Falmouth, Mass. As a result of a corporate relocation, Dave found himself in Anne Arundel County in 1981. He had owned and competitively raced many sailboats from a 14ft Turnabout to a 36ft Performance Handicap Racing Fleet racer.

Dave is a member of the Eastport Yacht Club and has served as co-chair of the annual EYC Lights Parade. He's also Race Committee Chairman at EYC and has been recognized by U.S. Sailing as a Certified Club Race Officer. He is a member of the 2000-2001 Race Committee for the Southern Ocean Racing Conference (SORC).

In his "real life" in the corporate world, Dave has been vice-president of Washington Savings Bank, Bank of Baltimore and Commercial Credit Mortgage Company. He is now the president of House Check Professional Home Inspections.

Dave's wife, Louise, is an advanced practice nurse and case manager at Anne Arundel Medical Center. They have four children and three grandchildren.
